“I lied about DJ Maphorisa”- Samthing Soweto Finally Speaks Out.

Samthing Soweto has finally addressed the drama surrounding the music credits of his album Isiphithiphiti in response to DJ Maphorisa’s claim to the album’s masters.

The singer admitted he once thought his music wouldn’t sell well without DJ Maphorisa as producer.

Although he was happy at the time to let DJ Maphorisa claim a producing credit, Samthing now says DJ Maphorisa didn’t produce his work.

“The truth is, I had very little confidence in my music selling without him as a producer. It seemed like my audience loved the idea of him being a super producer, and I didn’t want to challenge that, so I lied,” he said.

Samthing revealed Mas Musiq and Kabza De Small produced 40% to 60% of Isiphithiphiti.

“Maphorisa didn’t produce my work. I paid him for my masters, but I lied about his contributions to my project. He didn’t produce anything.”

Samthing also said people he’s worked with, including his former group, The Soil, have used his work without permission or valid contracts.

He accused them of releasing his music without telling him and trying to discredit him on social media when he asked questions.

The singer was recently in the news after not getting credit for the song Amalanga Awafani with Mas Musiq, Lawd Weezy, and DJ Maphorisa.

Although fans wanted him to speak up, Samthing said he dealt with it privately.
