Gogo Skhotheni, a renowned South African sangoma, has finally addressed the swirling rumors surrounding the tragic death of her three-year-old son, Monde Jnr Shange. The young boy had been battling a severe medical condition for over two years before passing away after multiple unsuccessful surgeries. As Gogo Skhotheni mourns her loss, she has also been fighting off malicious allegations circulating on social media.
Since Monde Jnr’s death, several unfounded accusations have emerged, including claims that Skhotheni sacrificed her son to gain wealth and power. Others speculated that her rival, Gogo Maweni, a fellow sangoma, had a hand in the child’s death due to their ongoing conflicts. Frustrated by these false narratives, Gogo Skhotheni took to social media to clear the air and put an end to the
In a heartfelt and emotional post, she opened up about her son’s medical struggles and the pain she endured throughout his illness. “I suffered for two and a half years with my son, but I got used to it when he started getting better. God took him at a time when I was all over social media,” she began. Despite the tremendous grief she felt, Skhotheni expressed her unwavering faith, stating, “I am a young sangoma who was fortunately blessed with life and other things. I am not shaken by what people say. I know God loves me, and I love Him too. No situation, no pain, no tears will make me doubt Him.”
Skhotheni’s message was clear: her son’s death was due to medical complications, not witchcraft or any supernatural intervention. She emphasized that no sangoma, including herself, could have healed her son or prevented his death. “From day one, my son’s condition was a medical condition. No sangoma was going to replace a tube. I was not bewitched, and he was not bewitched. Stop giving sangomas credit or power they don’t have,” she said.
She further explained that during her son’s illness, she never once considered consulting another sangoma about his condition because she knew it would only serve to comfort her temporarily rather than address the real medical issues at hand. “During my son’s health struggles, I never, not even once, thought of consulting about it. I knew they were going to tell me what I wanted to hear because I was desperate for healing,” she continued.
Skhotheni’s emotional appeal resonated deeply with her followers as she urged them to maintain faith in God during their darkest moments. “I am here to tell you, don’t let a situation overpower you. Stick to God no matter what,” she advised, sharing a message of strength and resilience in the face of tragedy.
Gogo Skhotheni’s response highlights the challenges of dealing with public scrutiny while navigating personal grief. By speaking out, she not only set the record straight but also provided a powerful reminder of the importance of faith and perseverance, even when facing unimaginable pain.
