Sello Motloung’s Funeral Service Details Confirmed

The family of the late actor Sello Motloung, known for his roles in popular South African television dramas such as *The Wife* and *Rhythm City*, has confirmed the details of his funeral service. The 54-year-old actor passed away on Sunday, 15 September, after reportedly collapsing and subsequently dying in hospital.

According to a statement released by the Motloung family, the funeral service will take place on Saturday, 21 September, at St. Hubert’s Catholic Church in Alexandra. Following the service, Sello Motloung will be laid to rest at West Park Cemetery.

In accordance with the actor’s wishes, the family has decided not to hold a memorial service. Instead, friends and loved ones will gather at his home in Kempton Park to pay their last respects before the Requiem Mass in Alexandra.

The family expressed their shock and grief at the sudden loss of the beloved actor, who made significant contributions to the South African entertainment industry. They have requested privacy during this difficult time and directed any inquiries to Artist Connection, the agency representing Motloung.

“We are devastated to inform you of the sudden passing of Ntate Sello Motloung on Sunday, 15 September. His family is in shock, and we ask that you give them space at this time,” read the statement. “Sello will forever be remembered as one of our legends, and we will miss him tremendously.”

Sello Motloung’s death has left a deep void in the South African entertainment industry, with many of his colleagues and fans mourning his passing. Award-winning actress Katlego Danke, who had worked with Motloung, shared her heartbreak on social media.

Former *The Vow* actress Nambitha Ben-Mazwi also expressed her sadness at the actor’s passing. She recalled the good times they shared on set just a few days before his death.

“Devastated, to say the least. I’m not sure what is happening, but I will cherish the last laughs and fun we had in battle on set last Friday. My General: R.I.P. Sello. My condolences to the legend’s family. Kubuhlungu. Uxolo,” Ben-Mazwi said.
